AFSI applauds The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) for sending a
telegram to US Secretary of State Powell, urging him to replace his
pressure upon Israel to free terrorists with pressure upon the
Palestinian Authority to bring terrorists to justice.
Terrorists who murdered Israelis in the past week have taken shelter in
Arafat’s Mukata headquarters in Ramallah. Arafat’s Fatah terrorist
movement,- of which Abu Mazen is second in command, claimed
responsibility for the murder of Tzion David.
The telegram to Powell stated, “It is puzzling that the Bush
administration, which has so vigorously pursued and killed terrorists in
Afghanistan and Iraq, is pressuring Israel to release terrorists and is
silent on the PA sheltering terrorists - even though President Bush
himself has said repeatedly that those who shelter terrorists should be
treated the same as terrorists.” Readers are urged to contact the
Secretary of State with a similar message. Fax: 703-697-9080;

Following the terrorist attack in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Dore Gold,
former Israeli Representative to the U.S., expert on Saudi Arabia, and
author of “Hatred’s Kingdom”, spoke to National Review Online (May 14,
2003). (National Review Online, “The War on America Is Not Over” A
conversation with Saudi watcher Dore Gold — A Q&A by Kathryn Jean
Lopez.)http://www.nationalreview.com/script/printpage.asp?ref=/interroga
tory/interrogatory051403.asp)
Gold explained the Saudi strategy of supporting global terror and then
laying the blame on Israel:
” The Saudis have tried to peddle the line that terrorism in the Middle
East emanates from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in order to cover
their own central role in inciting and funding the global jihad of al
Qaeda, which is directed against the West and for which Israel only has
a minor role.”

their own central role in inciting and funding the global jihad of al
Qaeda, which is directed against the West and for which Israel only has
a minor role.”
Gold explained how the Saudi strategy depends on media complicity and
first class public relations:
“Saudi Arabia hired top Washington firms and utilized its “old boys”
network well, particularly with the American media. Even many of the
op-ed writers of the New York Times, who don’t even write on foreign
affairs, like Maureen Dowd, were hosted by the Saudis in the last year.
The New Yorker did a puff piece on Prince Bandar, more recently.” (AFSI
points out that Tom Friedman worked as a pawn for the Saudis when he
trumpeted the fraudulent “Saudi peace plan.” The fact that the Times
gave it so much play is further evidence of the growing unreliability of
New York Times’ reports.)
Gold was asked about his thoughts on the roadmap and its chances:
“Secretary Powell has made the Quartet Roadmap the centerpiece of his
Middle East policy. Yet the roadmap specifically demands that all Arab
states, including Saudi Arabia, halt any support for Hamas and other
Palestinian militant groups during its first phase of implementation ..
It would be untenable to have Israel pull back from positions around
Palestinian cities, while the Saudis write checks to Hamas so that it
replenishes its stocks of weaponry and renews attacks on Israel at a
later date.” (It makes just as little sense for Israel and the U.S. to
be giving money to the Palestinian Authority when the money is funneled
to terrorism.)
