Helen Freedman and Charlie Bernhaut invite all
residents of Manhattan to tune in on Monday nights at 7 PM on Ch. 57
Time Warner or Ch. 109 RCN for a continuing schedule of outstanding
programs. Three programs set for February are as follows:
Feb. 14. Rafique Iscandar, President of the American Coptic Union,
speaks about the terrible oppression of the Coptic Christians in Egypt,
going back to 1972 when Sadat was still in power. He maintains that the
Arab Islamic government which controls Egypt to this day, under Hosni
Mubarak, continues to promote a program of ethnic cleansing against the
Christians of Egypt. Hundreds of churches have been closed or destroyed,
over a half-million Christian girls have been kidnapped, raped by Arab
Islamists, and then forced to convert to Islam. Of the fifteen million
Copts that once lived in Egypt, only eight million remain. Iscandar
tells of how he fled the persecution in 1989. There are now
approximately one and a half million Copts in the U.S. today, with a
large community in Jersey City, N.J. Iscandar discusses the recent
tragic assassination of a Copt family in Jersey City. The community is
awaiting the official FBI and police findings on the perpetrators of the
slaughter. Iscandar asks that the American public write to their
representatives in the Congress requesting that America reconsider its
relationship with Egypt. He also asks that the Israelis resist any
programs of military activity with Egypt.

Feb.21. Mishmeret Yesha – the rapid response teams that protect the
communities of Judea, Samaria and Gaza, are the subject of a compelling
fifteen minute film. Helen Freedman, who toured with Israel Danziger,
the head of Mishmeret Yesha, and actually witnessed the training of the
young men from the various communities, comments on the imperative
nature of the work of the security teams. The film emphasizes that this
security work is done in conjunction with the IDF, which supplies the
weapons, ammunition, and some instructors to the rapid response teams so
that they can be the first to respond when terrorists infiltrate a
community, or attack on a road. Charlie Bernhaut comments that nothing
has changed in terms of security needs under Arafat’s successor, Abu
Mazen. The wolf is now in sheep’s clothing, but is more threatening than
ever to Israel’s survival. Contact: guards24@zahav.net.il
Feb.28. Herbert Zweibon, Chairman of Americans For a Safe Israel/AFSI,
discusses his recent meeting with Evangelical Christians in Washington,
DC on Feb. 2. Zweibon has long been a believer in the necessity for
working with Zionist Christians on behalf of Israel. For that reason,
AFSI, along with the Christian Coalition and the Apostolic Congress,
sponsored a six month billboard campaign, leading up to the Nov. 2004
elections. The billboards carried a simple message asking President Bush
to honor G-d’s Covenant with Israel. In addition, AFSI and the Global
Israel Alliance, a Christian group, ran a referendum prior to the
election asking that Christians vote for or against the creation of a
“Palestinian” state inside of Israel. Fifteen thousand NO votes were
garnered. The Feb. 2 Washington meeting was organized by Zweibon, Dr.
James Hutchens, President of Christians for Israel, and Richard Hellman,
head of CIPAC. The purpose was to develop a base of support for Israel
throughout America, reinforcing the Evangelical message to the
administration to stop pressuring Israel to give up any of its holy land
to create what would become another Arab Islamic terrorist state, and to
recognize that the Sharon “disengagement” plan is tearing apart the
fabric of Israel. Contact: afsi@rcn.com
