The Jewish residents of Israel’s southern Mediterranean coastal region, also known as Gush Katif (The Harvest Belt), have opened an English homepage on their popular website: english.katif.net. The site operator Moti Sender told IsraelNationalNews, “there has been a long-time demand for an English website, and we simply haven’t had the time, as this is a volunteer project.” Sender noted that his Hebrew website has become an important tool for both Israeli journalists and the general public who wish to get accurate information about and view up-to-date pictures of current events and developments in the region.
“The English site is now open, but in development stages - we’ll take all the help we can get in translation and development,” said Sender. One of the English site’s features is a petition which tracks the precise number of mortar shells and rockets that have been fired at Israeli targets in the region - 4,228 at the time of this writing.
