Amos Tajuri, a resident of the Modi’in area about 60 years of age, was murdered in the Arab village of Ni’alin late this morning. Shortly after he sat down to eat in a restaurant with Arab acquaintances, another Palestinian came in, ordered him at gunpoint to leave the building, and shot him to death at close range. Tajuri ate often in that restaurant, and counted the owner and his family among his friends. In fact, the owner even threw a chair at the murderer today, and received a bullet in his direction for his efforts. He rushed to a nearby IDF checkpoint and informed the soldiers, who dispatched a police and military force to the scene.
The murder occurred just north of Kiryat Sefer and Modi’in, in a village under Israeli security control. Security forces continue to pursue the murderer, and have so far arrested three of his accomplices. GSS and police officials are concerned over the fact that Israelis are too often not careful about entering areas under partial or total PA control. The army forbids entry into Areas A, which are under complete Palestinian control. Tajuri is survived by his wife and three children.
