IDF forces killed two Arabs who tried to infiltrate from Beit Hanoun in
northern Gaza to the area of Sderot. At least two other Arabs managed to cross over
the fence, and security forces are searching for them… Further south, the
army completed a midnight operation to destroy several buildings used to
camouflage Arab mortar-gunners. Yesterday, Arabs fired close to 20 mortar shells at
N’vei Dekalim, causing damage but no casualties. Two soldiers sustained light
wounds during the operation… Last night, mortar shells were fired at Gadid
and Morag; no one was hurt…
Following the “visit” of left-wing activists in Yitzhar yesterday, a steep
increase in terrorist activity has been registered in the area. Four firebombs
were hurled at a school bus north of the Tapuach Junction, a five-kilogram bomb
exploded aside the car of a Yitzhar resident outside the village of Hawara,
and rock-and-tire obstacles were placed on Highway 60 and the Trans-Samaria
Highways for the first time in many months. No one was hurt in these incidents.
A large explosive device was discovered this morning alongside the IDF’s
Tarmit position in southern Gaza. IDF sappers neutralized the bomb without
incident… The Supreme Court approved today the sealing of the home of Adnan Yihya
Sharbati, an Israeli-Arab Hamas terrorist from Jerusalem, who was convicted of
assisting a suicide bomber in reaching his target: a #2 passenger bus on its
way from the Western Wall in Jerusalem. The August attack claimed 23 lives and
wounded more than 100. Sharbati expressed regret at the hearing - that more
people were not killed.
