Three Arab terrorists attempting an infiltration into a Gush Katif
community by way of the sea were killed late last night (Thursday) by Israeli
Defense Forces.
The armed infiltrators were detected as they made their way from the beach
towards the shorefront community of Tel Katifa. A soldier was lightly wounded in
the ensuing gun battle.
The three terrorists used diving equipment to come ashore near Tel Katifa. As
they approached the road leading into the community, they opened fire on a
passing motorist, who reported the incident to community security services. The
security personnel of Tel Katifa and nearby communities returned fire at the
terrorists, who had also attacked a nearby IDF outpost. The soldiers and
security personnel killed the infiltrators after a half-hour long shootout, after
which soldiers found weapons and diving equipment nearby.
It was also released for publication last night that IDF soldiers prevented a
terrorist infiltration into the Shomron community of Emanuel on Wednesday
evening. Following intelligence information, an IDF unit identified and gave
chase after three terrorists in Emanuel’s industrial zone, located at the edge of
town. The terrorists fled into a cave a few kilometers from Emanuel and one of
them was eventually apprehended. Additional forces were called in, but the
other two infiltrators managed to elude capture. IDF soldiers also found an
AK-47 rifle, magazines and hand grenades hidden in a nearby tunnel, apparently in
preparation for the foiled attack.
In other incidents over the past 24 hours: Two or three Israelis sustained
light injuries as a result of a rock-throwing attack in the Gush Shilo area….
Terrorists fired repeatedly at IDF troops stationed in southern Gaza along the
Egyptian border, near Tul Karem in Samaria, and on the Karnei-Netzarim road in
Gaza. There were no injuries in among Israeli soldiers…. In Hevron, an Arab
male armed with a knife was taken into custody by soldiers near the Cave of the
Patriarchs…. Two terrorists who fired at soldiers were injured by return fire
in Khalil, in the Shechem district. In addition, a number of terrorists were
taken into custody in the village.
