Attacks continue to emanate from Gaza towns handed over to PA
Security, with eight mortar shells launched and a 110 pound bomb uncovered today.
The mortar shells slammed into the Gush Katif Jewish communities of N’vei
Dekalim and Gadid Monday afternoon. One shell hit a home in N’vei Dekalim,
destroying the kitchen but failing to injure any of the inhabitants.
The owner of the house told Israel Radio that she hoped people wound not
continue to be fooled by the ‘trickery’ of the PA police, who rather than fight
terror, take an active role in it. Over 2,000 armed PA Arabs have been deployed
in the area surrounding Gush Katif, ostensibly to prevent the firing of
rockets and mortars.
‘The continued meetings between Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz and [PA
strong-man Muhammed] Dahlan as mortar shells continue to fall on Gush Katif are
shameful and morally indefensible,’ said Gush Katif spokesman Eran Sternberg. ‘We
will do everything in our power to bring this reprehensible situation to an end.
‘
Also Monday, the explosive device was discovered by border police just south
of the Kissufin crossing, the main entrance to Gush Katif. It was detonated
safely by police sappers. Terrorists also opened fire in the direction of the
hothouses of the southern Gaza town of Morag this afternoon. There were no
injuries reported.
