Terrorists Launch Four Rockets at Negev Towns

by Nissan Ratzlav-Katz

(IsraelNN.com) Palestinian Authority terrorists in Gaza fired four rockets into the Negev city of Sderot Saturday evening, injuring two people lightly. Six members of a single family were treated by emergency services for shock, after one of the rockets slammed into their home, causing extensive damage.

A Magen David Adom (MDA) first response unit reported that the two physically injured civilians were evacuated to Ashkelon’s Barzilai Hospital. Itzik Alfasi, of MDA, told Arutz Sheva Radio that the family whose house was struck was miraculously spared, as the rocket demolished the western side of the house at a moment when the entire family was on the eastern side.

The Shaar HaNegev regional council reported that an additional rocket landed north of Sderot and another landed in the area of the hothouses of the Nativ Ha’asara agricultural community. The family whose house was struck by the PA rocket was miraculously spared.

Shortly after the attacks on and around Sderot, Israeli air force planes fired a missile at a car carrying suspected members of a PA rocket-launching cell. One of the car’s occupants was killed and a second was injured.

In a joint statement, the Islamic Jihad, the Hamas-controlled Popular Resistance Committees and the Fatah’s Al-Aksa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for the Saturday rocket attacks. They declared that the barrage was retaliation for an Israeli counter-terrorism operation in Jenin earlier Saturday, in which three PA terrorists were killed.

Two of the terrorists killed in Jenin were members of Fatah and the third was a member of the Islamic Jihad. The three were killed when IDF soldiers opened fire on their car. The troops, members of an elite unit, returned fire after the gunmen shot at them from the vehicle.

A fourth PA gunman was killed by IDF forces on Saturday during a gun battle in the village of Kafr Dan. The soldiers were carrying out a counter-terrorism raid when they came under repeat fire from armed men in the village. The dead man was identified by Arab sources as a PA security officer.

In a Friday attack, Arab rock-throwers struck an Israeli bus near Kalandiya, south of Ramallah. No one was hurt in the incident, but the bus sustained damage.
