Qassam fire resumes despite IDF attacks

Tova Dadon

Despite IDF artillery fire toward Qassam rocket launching sites in northern Gaza and IAF attacks on access roads leading to the sites, Palestinians fired two more rockets at Israel early Saturday.

The rockets’ landing site has not been located as of yet, but a large explosion was heard in Sderot. No injuries or damage were reported.

According to Palestinian sources, the Qassam attacks are a direct response to the death of six Palestinians by IDF forces over the past week.

Army sources said the attacks on access roads in north Gaza were aimed at making it difficult for Palestinian terrorists to reach the Qassam launching sites.

On Friday Four Qassam rockets landed in southern Israel while the IDF was carrying out an artillery attack on Qassam launching sites in Gaza.

At around 4 p.m., the Red Dawn alert system identified the launching of three Qassam rockets from the northern Gaza Strip at Israel.

‘Painful and earth shattering’

Two of the rockets apparently landed in an open field near the southern town of Sderot, and the third landed south of Ashkelon.

About two hours later, another rocket was fired at Israel and apparently landed in an open field near the southern community of Nativ Haasara, just south of Ashkelon.

No injuries or damage were reported in both incidents.

Meanwhile, representatives of four armed Palestinian terror groups fathered for a press conference in Gaza Friday, in which they announced
they intend to avenge the deaths of the Palestinians killed by the IDF this week.

The participants, members of the al-Quds Brigades, the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, the Salah al-Din Brigades and the Abu-Reish Brigades said the response to the killings will be “painful and earth shattering.” Members of Hamas’ military wing did not attend the conference.
